"GOLDEN PAGODA" Poi Lu Kongmu Kham !!!

“GOLDEN PAGODA”

Admittedly, spreads golden hue as the sun sets, also called Kongmu Kham in Arunachal. Northeastern part of India is treasure of Pagodas/Monasteries. If you take my advice - visit this stunning beauty while returning on the way from Parashuram Kund, try to catch at Sun down to experience a mesmerizing sight. Situated above at a hill height, from the highway. Located at Chowkham in Namsai district of Arunachal, built inside a large area. KATHINA FESTIVAL is an important event to attend here on the first week of December every year, aside from the gorgeous pagoda

Golden as darkness fall

The place is meant for pilgrims and monks. Monks (male/female) live here, to attain deeksha, but is a huge tourist attraction as well. A meditation hall also is built along with a huge statue of Buddha' inside. Water lily's in large pots are placed every corner of the pagoda, the whole area is surrounded by flowers and greenery.
Leaving the rest on you to experience, once entered the premises.

FYI note : Please wear long cloth before entering any pagodas/monasteries (legs should be covered). At Golden Pagoda entry gate, long wrappers are up for grabs on rent for women, but price isn't reasonable for a visit of 1/2 hours - according to me, keep the fact in mind. Any kind of cameras not allowed, local photographers work inside premises.

WHEN TO VISIT: Any time of the year is suitable. But the view is more magnificent at summer nights when the moon is full bloom with the stars in a clear sky.
Visiting hours from Morning 07:00 to19:00 hours.

Day view
HOW TO REACH:  Approximate Ride / driving distance of 95 k :m(about 03 hours journey, depends on speed and halts) from Tinsukia in Assam, through RUPAI SIDING enroute Kakopathar, Dirak.,Chowkham, Parashuram Kund and beyond. One can cover both the spots the same day. Get inner line permit at Dirak check gate. Chowkham can be reached through Tezu road as well from Arunachal Pradesh.

WHERE TO STAY :If one wishes to stay at the temple premises, guest houses are available but prior booking is better than walk-in. Tinsukia in Assam is the best option I recommend to stay any day. And in Arunachal Pradesh @ Roing town, one can find passable accommodation.

THINGS TO BE NOTED:
Ø  In own car/bike, don’t forget to carry along puncture kit, clutch cable, first aid box.
Ø Online car service not operational yet, e.g. Ola, Uber, contact local travel agencies or drop me a message in comment section.
Ø  Keep handy snacks and water, shops/eateries not available everywhere while traveling in Arunachal.
Ø  Always keep handy medicines to avoid feeling of nausea, sweet & tangy candies.
Ø  ILP (inner line permit) is must to enter restricted areas in Arunachal Pradesh. If coming by flight from
GAU-DIB; an office to draw permit is situated at Mohanbari in Assam, falls off the airport.

*Hope to reach wanderers and nature lovers, to grab your attention to explore the anesthetic beauties of northeast India.
